LABC Building Surveyors on site

This relatively new scholarship aims to encourage advancements in the building control profession and the development of Building Regulations. Each year the Faculty of Building Control and Standards, together with the Local Authority Building Control (LABC), award £3,000 to the chosen scholar.

Areas of study could include looking at how site management can help ensure that as-built energy performance is the same as at the design stage; how to show that building control adds value; or looking at Lifetime Home standards.

This scholarship does not require an employer to make the application. Once selected, the candidate will meet with experts every few months to receive support and mentoring, with a presentation, hosted by LABC, to share their findings at the end of the 12-month scholarship period.

The research will also be considered for publication to a wider audience reaching directors and senior managers from around the industry.
