IsoLohr is a certified bespoke system for constructing thermal bridge-free raft foundations where insulation is used as shuttering. The original German system is simple - 2.5m-long perimeter elements are placed on a compacted levelled sub base to form the circumferential up-stand on the sub base.

The under slab surface between the edge elements is then filled up with 1/2/3 layers of load-bearing Styrodur XPS insulation. Almost any desired insulation value can be achieved and by installing frost shield to the perimeter, the sub grade is protected from seasonal fluctuations.

Membranes and reinforcement can then be placed and concrete poured. Options for edge elements can accommodate almost every construction method including SIP, ICF, masonry, concrete or timber frame, which can be placed thermal bridge-free on the foundation.

As well as being quick to install, providing minimal waste on site and easy to handle, the system is earth quake-resistant, future-proof and economical and reduces excavation on site, allowing a complete foundation in one day (subject to inspections).

Isolohr has LABC, LABC Warranty and LABSS registration. Find out more about it.
