The Isle of Wight is a wonderful place to live, work and visit – and it's only going to get better as the Isle of Wight Council presses forward with its regeneration programme and progresses its new local plan - the Island Planning Strategy. As an Area or Senior Building Control Surveyor, you will play an important part in helping to deliver this vision whilst ensuring standards are met.
The iconic Isle of Wight landscape and coastal scenery often leads to the perception that life on the Island moves at a different pace to the rest of the country. However, the role of a Building Control surveyor on the Isle of Wight is varied and offers real challenges to enthusiastic surveyors. The service has a reputation for delivering a high quality customer focused service. We are the Building Control Service of choice for the vast majority of projects and each day throws up something new.
We are looking to recruit both a Senior and an Area Building Control Surveyor. To meet the challenge, you will need to be enthusiastic and self-motivated with the ability to organise a broad and interesting workload efficiently and effectively and you will deal with the full range of Building Control work. In addition, as a Senior Surveyor you will be responsible for the daily management of a small team of surveyors and assist in further developing the aims of the service.
To be considered for the Senior role you will need to be qualified to degree level and either hold Corporate Membership of a professional body (e.g. RICS) or working towards this. For the Area Surveyor role, you will need a minimum qualification of HNC in Building Studies and for both roles you will have considerable Building Control experience. The successful applicants will need to demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills and a full clean driving licence and use of a car on a daily basis is essential.
In return, you will be rewarded with an attractive salary and generous recruitment/relocation package. We also offer a generous leave entitlement and you will be able to enjoy your leisure time within one of the most beautiful parts of the country – whether that's surfing or building sandcastles on the golden beaches, sailing the Solent, walking unspoilt countryside or coastal paths or cycling the extensive network of cycle routes.
