The Building Act 1984, Building (amendment) Regulations 2011: Circular 02/2011

 

02/2011 Changes to Building (amendment) Regulations (SI 2011/1515), approval of ADs unaffected by these changes, further provisions for self-certification. (Amendment) Regulations 2011 make minor amendments to the Building Regulations 2010 (S.I. 2010/2214), and should be read in conjunction with the Building Regulations 2010.  

The Building Act 1984 and Building Regulations 2010: circular 07/2010

 

07/2010 Explains SI 2010/2214/ and SI 2010/2215 which consolidate Building Regs 2000 (SI 2000/2531) and The Building Act 1984 and subsequent amendments to those regulations, and the Building (Approved Inspectors etc) Regulations 2000 (SI 2000/2532) and subsequent amendments to those regulations, transitional provisions
confirms the continued approval of the Approved Documents and approved methodologies, circumstances, procedures and manners of recording under specific regulations in the Building Regulations
announces further provisions for self-certification.
 

New Approved Documents and guidance: Circular 06/2010

 

06/2010 Explains: * the approval and publication of six new Approved Documents (ADs F, J and L1A , L1B, L2a and L2B) * the publication of three new compliance guides * the approval of a number of the circumstances, procedures and manner of recording of
results required the Building Regulations and the AI Regulations * how the transitional provisions
in S.I. 2010/719 apply to these approvals and publications * the correction of an omission in
Circular 02/2010.
 

Amendments relating to Approved Documents B and L 2006 editions: Circular 02/2010

 

02/2010 Amendments and corrections to Approved Document B (2006) and Approved Documents L (2006). The Secretary of State, in exercise of his powers under section 6(4) of the Building Act 1984, has approved revisions of Approved Document B (2006), volumes 1 and 2, and of Approved Documents L (2006), ie Approved Documents L1A, L1B, L2A and L2BFormal notice of these approvals is contained in the Annex to this Circular. The approvals take effect on the date of the publication of this Circular.  

Amendments relating to energy efficiency and competent persons self-certification schemes: Circular 03/2010

 

03/2010 Building and Approved Inspectors (Amendment) Regulations 2010 (SI 2010/719) (the Amendment Regulations) which were laid on 12 March 2010. The amendments to the Building (Approved Inspectors etc) Regulations 2000 and amendments to Building Regulations 2000. Amendments are subject to the transitional provisions referred to in paragraph 15. 01/10/2010 & 01/04/2010

New provision for local authority building control charges: Circular 01/2010

 

01/2010 Building (Local Authority Charges) Regulations 2010 (SI 2010/404) (the 2010 Regulations) This circular explains the purpose of the provisions in the 2010 Regulations and indicates how they differ from the previous 1998 Regulations. It also draws attention to the transitional provisions and other guidance issued on the regulations. 01/04/2010

Postponement of amendments to the building regulations coming into force: Circular 10/2009

10/2009 This circular letter draws attention to the Building and Approved Inspectors (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2009 (S.I. 2009/2465).  

New competent person schemes, water efficiency calculation methodology, and spent provision on the time limit for prosecution: Circular 09/2009

09/2009 Amendments to the Building Regulations 2000, announce the publication of a revised edition of document Water Efficiency Calculator for New Dwellings (September 2009). 1 Oct 2009

Multi-foil insulation: circular 06/2009

 

06/2009 Summary of responses to the consultation document on proposed new editions of the 2006 Approved Documents L. Also clarifies the Department’s position on the assessment of multi-foil insulation in relation to meeting the energy efficiency requirements of the Building Regulations and is re-stated in Annex A.  

Building regulations and new minimum water efficiency requirements: Circular 05/2009

 

05/2009 Minor changes introduced to revise and extend the requirements G1 to G6 (sanitation, hot water safety and water efficiency) into Schedule 1 of the Building Regulations and revoke current requirements G1 to G3. It also introduces the new minimum water efficiency requirements for new dwellings.  
Building regulations self-certification schemes and exemptions from the requirement to give a building notice or deposit full plans: Circular 01/2009

 

01/2009 Building (Amendment) Regulations 2009 (S.I. 2009/466) 
The Amendment Regulations:add to the persons able to self-certify the installation of a heating or hot water system connected to a heat-producing gas appliance, or associated controls, persons registered with Capita Gas Registration and Ancillary Services Limited. the Electrical Contractors Association has decided that  
all its schemes should in future be operated by its subsidiary EC Certification Limited. Annex A to this Circular sets out all changes to the Building Regs made by SI 2009/466.
