The 2018 LABC Building Excellence Awards train moved on to the Lancashire County Cricket Club (otherwise known as Emirates Old Trafford) in Manchester for the North West Region awards night on Friday 27 April 2018.

The focus of these awards recognise is on technical excellence rather than aesthetics, and winners this year include Liverpool Football Club's megastore, a new locomotive carriage building and a community facility for young people in the Wirral.

LABC's Chief Executive Paul Everall said, "The awards are an opportunity for us to celebrate some of the very best in construction in England and Wales, recognising the high level of quality and skill we can and do reach in the UK."

Representatives of Abbey Pynford, Actis, FMB, Home&Build, Jewson, LABC Acoustics, LABC Warranty, Polypipe Terrain and Swiftclean presented trophies and certificates to the 15 winning and 10 highly commended projects and individuals.

The winners automatically go into the Grand Finals, which will be held on Friday 9 November at the Westminster Park Plaza in London.

More than £6,000 was raised for LABC President Chris Griffith-Jones' chosen charity, the Oracle Cancer Trust.
