LABC has welcomed the invitation by Dame Judith Hackitt to participate in three working groups looking at design and construction, industry competencies and regulation and guidance.

Commercial Director Martin Taylor will sit on the design, construction and refurbishment group which is looking at what industry and regulators need to do to fully embed building safety during the design and construction phase.

LABC will be represented by Deputy MD Lorna Stimpson on the competencies working group, which will establish how competency requirements for key individuals involved in building and managing complex and high-risk buildings should change.

And finally, Director of Technical Policy Barry Turner will sit on the regulation and guidance group, which will look to resolve whether central government ownership of technical guidance is the most appropriate model for complex and high-risk buildings.

Commenting, Lorna Stimpson said, “LABC is committed to the highest possible professional standards and effective building regulation.

"These are important working groups informing the recommendations of the Hackitt Review and we welcome the opportunity to add our expertise to their deliberations.”
