Our free suite of Construction Details provides industry standard designs and specifications for the construction of junctions. They provide a ‘patternbook’ approach showing design details and purchasing specifications to ensure thermal performance. Here’s how they help you.

Proving thermal efficiency

With the uplift in Part L, ‘Improved Details’ are becoming more and more important in achieving compliance. The Registered Construction Details (RCDs) database is easy to use and free for all local authority building control service users - meaning you have even more reason to work with us.

Reducing costs

Demonstrating reduced heat loss through junctions can result in a less severe U-value requirement, eliminate the need for expensive windows or reduce the amount of PV panels - all this while still achieving targeted SAP values, maximising thermal efficiency and minimising you building cost!

Easy to understand

Part L compliance involves close attention to the junctions or construction joints – these parts can allow heat to leak out and can also create cold spots internally. Simple diagrams are included for each RCD, helping you easily understand how to achieve compliance on site and making your job easier at the same time.

Checklists

The checklists provided with each detail can be used by the designer and builder to better demonstrate compliance with the Building Regulations and help prevent poor-performing buildings.

LABC RCDs presently encompass masonry construction and over time will be extended to include timber frame and light steel frame.
