3C Shared Services is a strategic partnership between Cambridge City Council, Huntingdonshire District Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council who work in partnership to provide building control services jointly, under the name of 3C Shared Services.

This is an exciting time for a Strategic Lead to join 3Cs, become a leading figure in the greater Cambridgeshire area and to be a driving force in a new organisation, which has a fantastic diversity of workload available.

2017 will be an important year for 3Cs, with an aim to provide top quality and market leading services to clients in Cambridgeshire and beyond. Recent national successes illustrate the potential of 3Cs Building Control as the organisation moves forward into a progressive and innovative shared service.

The teams at Huntingdon and Cambridge made tremendous strides during 2016 and are developing plans to make 3Cs the service of choice for all local clients. Cambridge is crucial to the UK’s economy and its international competitiveness with plans for 14,000 new homes by 2031: a world-class reputation for education, science and innovation; research and knowledge-based industries; and its historic environment.

South Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire are set to see extensive commercial and residential expansion; this includes the Alconbury Enterprise Zone and the planned redevelopment of RAF Wyton. When fully developed, this will include 3million square feet of commercial space and nearly 10,000 new homes.

The Strategic Lead is pivotal to the success of the 3C Shared Services. The organisation is looking to recruit an exceptional candidate with significant experience in a construction and property related field. As a commercially minded and experienced people leader in local government or the private sector, you could come from a variety of construction related backgrounds, these might include; building control, surveying, architecture or planning.

You will head a team of 28 highly experienced and qualified staff, so previous management experience is essential to this role as well as adaptability and strong communication skills. The Strategic Lead will be educated to degree level or equivalent; will have evidence of continuous management development and also a recognised construction related professional qualification. You will take a strategic lead on a range of key projects, corporate objectives, partnerships and initiatives.

In addition you will manage budgets of up to £2m, develop new funding and income streams improve market share and secure commercial fee income.

Nottingham City has developed a more efficient way of delivering services within a modern office setting incorporating the benefits of flexible working.

We are looking for a motivated and committed person to work within a busy team of Building Control Surveyors. This person must possess excellent communication skills and pro-active problem solving abilities to suit a core city environment.

To join our successful team you should be an enthusiastic Building Control Surveyor with experience of the Building Control function and determining building regulations applications.

At Nottingham City you will work within a defined geographical area undertaking daily site inspections. The workload will be varied involving both large and small developments giving an opportunity for personal development. You will have the opportunity to work flexibly from home and the office. At present we do not deal with dangerous structures.

Ideally the successful candidate would hold or being working towards a recognised construction qualification and potentially be a member of a recognised professional body such as the RICS, CABE or CIOB.

Working to the Building Control Manager you will be responsible for the day to day duties of our site inspection team, dangerous structures service, overseeing major projects, supervision and training of staff and supporting all aspects of assisting with the delivery of the teams objectives whilst maintaining the high professional reputation of the service to its customers.

The post requires that you already have a degree or equivalent professional qualification demonstrating the relevant skills and professional achievement to RICS, MCABE, MIFireE or similar relevant body. You will be able to detail extensive experience in all aspects of the building control function including dangerous structures and enforcement as well as demonstrating a track record in leading on major complex schemes.

Consultant Surveyor – Building Control

Lincs Building Consultancy deliver the Building Control service for East Lindsey District Council.

We are excited to be recruiting for a Consultant Surveyor to join our busy and dedicated team. You will be required to carry out Building Control duties such as site inspections, as well as providing concise and clear advice to our customers on all aspects of Building Control and allied legislation.

You will need to have an up to date knowledge of construction legislation and regulations and have an HNC in Building or in a construction related discipline. You will also need to have (or be working towards) membership of a professional body ie. RICS CABE or CIOB; or have equivalent experience in the construction industry. Ideally we are looking for someone with a Building Control background; however if you are an effective communicator, have strong IT skills and have the essential knowledge and qualifications required, we would also like to hear from you.

East Midlands Building Consultancy

Building Control Surveyor

Base working within East Midlands across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire to be confirmed - 37 hours per week

The East Midlands Building Consultancy, a Building Control Partnership between South Kesteven District Council, Rushcliffe Borough Council and Newark and Sherwood District Council and recognised as proactive and capable of providing an excellent comprehensive service for our customers.

We are looking for a building control surveyor with the ability and motivation to operate with the minimum of supervision and the drive to support the new and exciting challenges of this busy building control partnership.

The role is part of a team responsible for ensuring that the service and operational objectives of the partnership are met on a timely basis. If you are able to operate flexibly and provide speedy responses to customer requests, including the checking of building regulation submissions, this could be the position for you.

You will be committed to ensuring that all customers receive an exceptional service that provides improvement and demonstrates value for money. This will be through the delivery of direct and commissioned services whilst ensuring that building work conforms to the standards of the building regulations. You will work within a defined geographical area undertaking daily site inspections.

Applicants must have an extensive knowledge of the building control legislation together with the appropriate qualifications or experience and willingness to work towards a qualification.
