About the role & about us

Ashford Borough Council seeks an experienced building control professional to expand our existing multi-disciplined team.

This is a great career opportunity to establish a high profile and a strong reputation working for a Council that genuinely values the importance of local authority Building Control and is pioneering exciting new ways of working.

Our ‘Quality Place Making Initiative’ looks to expand the traditional scope of Building Control to cover all aspects of making great places. Ashford is growing fast with a major new development, based on garden city principles, of nearly 6,000 homes will soon be on site and many other major residential and commercial developments are underway.

We are determined to deliver new homes in places of lasting quality and a regenerated town centre that residents are proud of.

We are looking for a new manager of the service who can combine excellent technical skills with a determination to drive this quality agenda as a national exemplar. We also need someone with an entrepreneurial approach who is keen to develop the commercial building consultancy services the Council offers using the wide range of specialist skills available in-house.

Ashford is just 38 minutes from London by train; set in great countryside and close to the Channel coast; with excellent schools and house prices that are lower than in much of the south east.

The quality of life is excellent. If you like the sound of this challenge we look forward to hearing from you.

As part of our competitive remuneration package, we offer a pension scheme, generous annual leave, flexi-time and opportunities for training and development.

For an informal discussion please contact Richard Alderton, Director of Development on 01233 330239.
