LABC Building Excellence Awards 2025 winner: LABC Team of the Year
Building excellence throughout the construction industry has been celebrated at the LABC Grand Finals 2025.
The LABC Building Excellence Awards have long been established as the premier accolades within the industry; recognising the companies and individuals that demonstrate a commitment to competence, quality and standards in delivering safe and sustainable buildings for the communities we live and work in.
Over 800 individuals from across England and Wales, came together on 23 January 2026, showcasing the amazing people and projects working in our industry.
Lorna Stimpson, CEO at LABC, said:
“True excellence is based on a demonstrable commitment to competence, quality and standards, which are the foundations of our awards.”
LABC is delighted to announce that the WINNER of the LABC Team of the Year is Dorset Council
The team at Dorset Council Building Control has developed a great reputation since the creation of the Council in 2019, embracing the LABC Quality Management System to raise standards and recently achieved a very positive audit from the Building Safety Regulator with no identified non-compliance.
The team work hard to build positive engagement with their customers through agents’ forums and meetings. Customers return time and time again to use their service, appreciating and endorsing their responsiveness, local knowledge and professionalism.
Working with LABC as a key member of the South West Region, they have continued to develop the team. All 22 RBIs have validated their competence and use myLABC to ensure they remain up to date. They continue to support their apprentices, with two of them being shortlisted finalists for LABC Trainee of the Year 2025. With a skilled and fully staffed team, they are ready to lead the future of building control.
Dorset Building Control Manager and Chair of the LABC South West Region, David Kitcatt, says,
“I am extremely proud of our team and their commitment to improvement. Using new technology, including mobile working systems, changes to our website, regular social media posts, and news updates, we help everyone meet their responsibilities. As part of the LABC network, we recognise the benefits of working together to uphold the highest standards of safety and quality in construction, continuing to drive progress and excellence across the sector.”
A range of categories celebrated on the night highlight the diverse portfolio of projects delivered within the industry alongside the project teams that are committed to delivering compliant and high-quality buildings for our communities.
