Step 1 - Register your interest and complete the application form. 
Step 2 - The tutor will review and a coordinator will confirm course suitability. 
Step 3 – For fully funded learners, the LABC team will issue a funding agreement to be signed and confirm your enrolment on the course. For paying learners, once course suitability is confirmed you will need to book your place on this webpage.

• Step 1 – Email learning@labc.co.uk to request an application form. You will then be sent login details for our Virtual Learning Environment where you will submit your application.

Course Details 

This unique level 6 qualification explores the roles and responsibilities of those involved in ensuring the fire safety of a building from inception to demolition. We focus specifically on both existing and new buildings without being restricted exclusively by the definition of a higher risk building given in the Building Safety Act and associated regulations and therefore consider a variety of increasingly complex buildings.  

This level 6 qualification is a recognised pathway to independent competency validation for RBIs.  

Afternoon lectures take place within the 11 teaching weeks where you'll discuss complex case studies with expert guest speakers and your peers. 

It would be beneficial for you to attend all of the afternoon, and this is our recommendation as the opportunity to discuss and debate the subject of the day is invaluable; however, if you do miss any due to work commitments, you'll be able to catch up in your own time as all workshops will be recorded. There isn’t an exam for this qualification, you'll have a few weeks’ break following your last workshop, after which time your assignment will be due. In the unlikely event you refer on your first attempt at your assignment, you'll have two more attempts to pass. 

This qualification requires the use of a wide range of sources to develop and expand your knowledge base and evidence your detailed understanding of the subject matter. 

All learning, lectures and assignments will take place via distance learning on the LABC Virtual Learning Environment. 

• Tutor Led Learning: Online interactive lectures with facilitated activities. We recommend that you attend all lectures but understand that this isn't always possible. All lectures will be recorded and made available to those students who are not able to attend. So, if you miss them, you can always catch up later at a more convenient time / day. 
• Self-directed study: Required on top of the lectures should include e-learning, researching, studying, working on the assignment. 
• Assessment: Participants are required to complete an online assignment that is assessed on a pass/merit/distinction/fail criterion.  
• Support: Participants will be supported throughout the course by the Learning and Development Specialist and Course Coordinator.  

Who should apply? 

• This qualification is designed for construction professionals working on or progressing to work on complex buildings. The qualification develops the learner’s knowledge and skills in this fire safety specialism dealing with fire related matters for complex buildings. This qualification comprises one unit.
