LABC Building Excellence Awards 2025 winner: Best Large Social Housing Development
Building excellence throughout the construction industry has been celebrated at the LABC Grand Finals 2025.
The LABC Building Excellence Awards have long been established as the premier accolades within the industry; recognising the companies and individuals that demonstrate a commitment to competence, quality and standards in delivering safe and sustainable buildings for the communities we live and work in.
Over 800 individuals from across England and Wales, came together on 23 January 2026, showcasing the amazing people and projects working in our industry.
Lorna Stimpson, CEO at LABC, said:
“True excellence is based on a demonstrable commitment to competence, quality and standards, which are the foundations of our awards.”
LABC is delighted to announce that the WINNER of the Best Large Social Housing Development is Wildbridge, Sussex.
The Wildbridge development at Bilsham Road is a large partnership housing scheme delivering high-quality homes across a mix of tenures. Sustainability is central to the project, with timber frame construction, EPC A-rated homes and features including solar PV, EV charging and level access throughout. The scheme also prioritises placemaking, with open spaces, play areas and sustainable drainage creating a strong and inclusive community.
The Arun District Council building control team provided timely inspections and guidance during critical stages of the project, such as the transition to new regulations for foundations. This collaborative approach ensured compliance without impacting the programme. The site team also overcame challenges like traffic management during handovers and design adjustments for level access, maintaining quality and aesthetics. The result is a thoughtfully designed community with open spaces, play areas, cycle routes, and sustainable drainage systems, exceeding minimum building standards and creating a positive impact for residents and local wildlife.
The judges selected Wildbridge as the winning project due to its exemplary delivery of high-quality, sustainable homes at scale while fostering a strong sense of place: “Wildbridge sets a benchmark for socially focused, environmentally responsible large-scale housing.”
A range of categories celebrated on the night highlight the diverse portfolio of projects delivered within the industry alongside the project teams that are committed to delivering compliant and high-quality buildings for our communities.
