Reducing the effects of ground heave following tree removal

Removing nearby or even pre-existing trees can be a real problem for the foundations of a property and LABC Warranty have published some advice on how to deal with this common issue.

What is heave?

When a tree is removed from the soil, water is no longer being absorbed by the tree roots meaning the soil will start to swell as it gets wet.

The soil can lift up with this swelling and if it leads to a greater volume than when the property was built, the foundations can shift.
