Who is responsible for sustainable urban drainage (SuDS)?
10.10.2014
Recent legislation means you could soon be taking on some of the responsibility for creating and managing sustainable drainage systems (SuDS).
Under the Flood and Water Management Act 2010, the local authority SuDS Advisory Board must monitor and manage the specification, design, implementation, and maintenance of SuDS schemes.
However, despite the responsibility for managing SuDS being placed on the advisory boards, developers, builders, and even homeowners will share this responsibility.
The key concern is to manage water run-off by allowing it to seep naturally through the ground via permeable paving.
