LABC North West Building Excellence Awards 2018
The 2018 LABC Building Excellence Awards season continued at the Emirates Old Trafford (home of the Lancashire County Cricket Club in Manchester) for the North West Region awards night on Friday 27 April 2018.
A record number of 640 attended this year. Guests included representatives from big and small companies as well local authority building control professionals from the North West region. The event was hosted by BBC Radio Manchester's breakfast presenter Chelsea Norris.
The focus of these awards is to recognise technical excellence rather than aesthetics, and finalists this year included Liverpool Football Club's megastore, a new locomotive carriage building and a community facility for young people in the Wirral.
The use of innovative solutions to overcome technical issues, collaborative working with Building Control and paying attention to energy and sustainability issues are just some of the criteria our judges used to decide the winners and highly commendeds.
LABC's Chief Executive Paul Everall said, "The awards are an opportunity for us to celebrate some of the very best in construction in England and Wales, recognising the high level of quality and skill we can and do reach in the UK."
Representatives of LABC sponsors Abbey Pynford, Actis, FMB, Home&Build, Jewson, LABC Acoustics, LABC Warranty, Polypipe Terrain and Swiftclean presented trophies and certificates to the 15 winning and 10 highly commended projects and individuals.
The winners automatically go into the Grand Finals, which will be held on Friday 9 November at the Westminster Park Plaza in London.
More than £6,000 was raised for LABC President Chris Griffith-Jones' chosen charity, the Oracle Cancer Trust.
