Building control qualifications
The award-winning LABC qualifications are the most comprehensive and relevant public service building control qualifications available today, offering the highest credit value out of any other qualification in this field.
Content is developed by highly experienced public service building control technical experts and delivered through a mix of online and face to face methods to make learning accessible to all students regardless of their location.
Each qualification level walks the student through their professional development, step by step, from the very start of their career all the way through to full competency at Level 6. Learning is both practical and applicable, allowing the individual to use what they're learning straight away in the workplace.

Graduates at Levels 4 and 5 also have a direct route to joining the University of Wolverhampton's Levy funded Apprenticeship Degree or the non-levy funded Top-up Degree. Graduates from both gain a BSc (Hons) Degree Building Control Surveying.
Formal learning content has been academically accredited and validated by the Chartered Institute of Building and the University of Wolverhampton. The qualifications take into account past experience and education so that students can start their studies at the most appropriate level.

Qualifications
Level 6 BSc (Hons) in Building Control (Apprenticeship Degree) - University of Wolverhampton (Starts January 2021)

- Graduates complete an End Point Assessment to graduate and gain MCIOB/MCABE/MRICS.

LABC Top Up Degree - University of Wolverhampton
The Top Up Degree is a two-year Degree for anyone who isn't able to follow the Apprenticeship Degree route, e.g. LABC members from Wales.
Applicants, depending on their current knowledge, skills and experience, can do the level 4 and level 5 Diplomas (below) and then the Top Up Degree to gain a BSc Degree in Building Control Surveying.
The applicant's knowledge, skills, experience and existing qualifications will be evaluated by LABC and the University of Wolverhampton to determine which year you will join the Degree pathway on. A mentor along with 20% off the job learning is required. Graduates complete an End Point Assessment to graduate and gain MCIOB/MCABE/MRICS.
LABC Level 5 Diploma in Public Service Building Control Surveying (Starts Sept 2021)
- Credit value - 107
- One year (part-time)
- Specialisms - Non-Domestic & Low Risk Commercial
- Delivered by LABC, awarded by the Chartered Institute of Building and exclusive to LABC members
- Subsidised cost to LABC members

- Specialism - Domestic extensions and alterations
- Delivered by LABC, awarded by the Chartered Institute of Building and exclusive to LABC members
- Subsidised cost to LABC members

LABC Level 3 Certificate in Technical Support for Public Service Building Standards (Starts 6 July & 20 Jan 2021)
- Credit value - 14
- Six months (part-time)
- Specialism - Technical administration support of Public Service Building Control
- Delivered by LABC, awarded by the Chartered Institute of Building and exclusive to LABC members
- Subsidised cost to LABC members

LABC Level 3 Certificate
Standalone qualification. Graduates can choose to join the Level 4 Diploma.
LABC Level 4 Diploma
Standalone qualification. Graduates can choose to join the Level 5 Diploma. (The Level 4 Diploma makes up Year 1 of the Wales Degree Pathway.)
LABC Level 5 Diploma
Standalone qualification. Graduates can choose to join the Top Up Degree. (The Level 5 Diploma makes up Year 2 of the Wales Degree Pathway.
Level 6 Top Up Degree
Stand alone qualification that covers Level 6 over two years. Graduates complete an End Point Assessment to graduate and gain MCIOB/MCABE/MRICS. (The Level 6 Top Up Degree makes up years 3 & 4 of the Wales Degree Pathway.)
