LABC Building Excellence Awards 2025 winner: Best Medium Volume New Housing Development

Press Release

Building excellence throughout the construction industry has been celebrated at the LABC Grand Finals 2025.

The LABC Building Excellence Awards have long been established as the premier accolades within the industry; recognising the companies and individuals that demonstrate a commitment to competence, quality and standards in delivering safe and sustainable buildings for the communities we live and work in.

Over 800 individuals from across England and Wales, came together on 23 January 2026, showcasing the amazing people and projects working in our industry.

Lorna Stimpson, CEO at LABC, said:

“True excellence is based on a demonstrable commitment to competence, quality and standards, which are the foundations of our awards.”

LABC is delighted to announce that the WINNER of the Best Medium Volume New Housing Development is Rolleston Leas, Staffordshire.

Rolleston Leas is a bespoke development in the village of Rolleston-on-Dove, delivering 22 high-quality bungalows designed exclusively for over-55s. Each home prioritises accessibility and comfort, with layouts built to Part M4(2) standards and selected plots adapted to Part M4(3) for full wheelchair use. Sustainability was central to the scheme, with all homes fitted with air source heat pumps and built to exceed energy performance expectations. The development blends thoughtful design with a peaceful setting, creating a community that supports independent living while reducing environmental impact.

The East Staffordshire Borough Council building control team worked closely with Peveril Homes throughout the project, providing guidance and timely approvals on key accessibility details such as level access and bespoke damp-proof solutions. This collaborative approach ensured compliance without delays, even when faced with challenges like site access constraints and insulation upgrades. The result is a well-planned, sustainable development that exceeds minimum building standards and delivers lasting value for residents, combining practicality, energy efficiency, and quality craftsmanship.

The judges commended the project for its strong commitment to sustainability and community noting that,

“It combines thoughtful design, energy conscious living and a lifestyle tailored to the needs of older homeowners, seamlessly into a vibrant and strong local community.”

A range of categories celebrated on the night highlight the diverse portfolio of projects delivered within the industry alongside the project teams that are committed to delivering compliant and high-quality buildings for our communities.
