Applications for LABC's Level 3, 4 and 5 CIOB qualifications in Public Service Building Control Surveying for the January 2020 intake are closing on 6 December 2019 so there's no time to lose.

These qualifications are highly valued by employers with many past students being promoted as a result of passing their course.

The diplomas are comprehensive, practical, in-depth and well-respected weighing in at over 100 credits each.

The ‘Reaching New Heights Conference’, hosted by LABC and LABC Warranty, explored how the construction sector has been reshaped following the Grenfell tragedy.

Aimed at contractors, designers and consultants, the event offered practical tips and insights for those designing and building high-risk projects under the new legislative regime.

In her opening address, Lorna Stimpson, CEO at LABC, welcomed the government response to the Inquiry, and its plans to act on all 58 recommendations.

We welcome the Government’s acceptance of the Phase 2 recommendations in full, and its commitment to working with the sector to support the recruitment and training of more building inspectors, building on the work over the past two years which has seen 200 new building control surveyors brought into this vitally important public service role.

A private sector approved inspector, PWC Building Control Services Ltd (PWC), filed for voluntary liquidation in August 2024. 

The active building projects that it was working on, if they haven’t already transferred, will almost inevitably now have to revert to public service building control teams in relevant local authorities.
