Econoblok building block

Econoblok is a zero carbon lightweight fibre cellulose building block with a smooth surface made of waste paper/cardboard diverted from landfills. It’s a lightweight load-bearing block with high thermal and acoustic performance.

The product, which is LABC Registered, has the appearance of a standard concrete block, but its usual behaviour is more typical of a treated timber.

While the Econoblok can generally be used in situations where a concrete block can, it is not designed or intended for us below a damp proof course and must be protected if it’s to be used externally. Screw holding is similar to timber and does not require the use of plugs while fixing strength has also been demonstrated to be relatively high.

With over 85% of genuine recycled raw materials, the precise texture and shade of the standard blocks may vary from batch to batch. It has coloured blocks are intended for use in decorative fair-faced applications.
